Re: A.G.M did the earth move ?
Hello Mick 1) 16 voting Leagues only were present. Just quorate....I hope the tellers actually checked that only those entitled to vote did so.! When 2 in 3 of full members don't bother to turn up, you have to start asking some really fundamental questions..... 2) No accounts ! Leigh Centre of Excellence profits 'ring fenced' but no explanation proffered.. 3) New secretary, UN-OPPOSED- does not get a majority in favour of him doing the job ( it went 8 for, 6 against and 2 abstentions ) of those present and entitled to vote..... I have been having an enjoyable exchange with Hammer on a different thread here , He doesn't need to worry about where I am heading ( he's wrong by the way ) he needs to be concentrating on whether Barla are heading anywhere at all........ |

Wow Peter what a magnificent sidestep. I stuck out a lazy arm, you ducked under and went in, between the ‘posts’ so to speak, good effort. But let’s see how I carry out of defence.
Yes only 16 voting leagues present, definitely not a show of support but probably on par with when you recently voted for your MEP, so it’s probably on an average with the voting British public, although I would question that all those present were there for the benefit of the association. Disappointingly though, it’s certainly not the message I personally wanted to see.
No accounts! Leigh Centre of Excellence profits 'ring fenced' but no explanation proffered. I believe that Carole Land offered an explanation for this as she did give a summary report on the accounts.
New secretary, UN-OPPOSED- does not get a majority in favour of him doing the job (it went 8 for, 6 against and 2 abstentions) of those present and entitled to vote. Not quite the count that I recorded and as you can appreciate I was a very interested observer. My more accurate count - which tallied with others' in the meeting was; 8 for, 4 against and 2 abstentions and as for the other the two votes, that is anybody’s guess. Not a landslide in particular but the necessary majority none the less.
It’s pleasing to hear that you are enjoying our exchanges, you seem a very decent bloke and I have warmed to you along with our little encounters.
I don’t worry where you are going although I do keep half an eye on your direction and yes, full concentration is needed on the association’s journey knowing that it has already begun with just one single step.

AGM
Many people are disinterested in politics however all District and Playing Leagues who are full members of BARLA should attend an AGM and register a vote on behalf of their members. Or are people deciding to vote with their feet?

You're not wrong Nicky, many people are disinterested in politics but I think that the members still need to register their vote as you quite rightly state.
Maybe now with this behind us, we can move away from the political arena and back to the people and places that matter - the players and their clubs.

Did Hilary Steele,s queens award get a mention ?
If not the whole BARLA board should hold their heads in shame ,or is that to political ?

It is my knowledge that Hilary's MBE was acknowledged by the BARLA Board, with a letter congratulating her.

Re: A.G.M did the earth move ?
But not publically on the forum or to the regional and district leagues.
You talk of politics how sad is that the BOARD has not done so, if you think your reply is adequate and acceptable then you are sadly falling into the same apathetically mind set of the rest of the Board.
Sorry if my English is not correct but I hope you catch my drift.

Re: A.G.M did the earth move ?
Mick, my reply was as factual as I could have made it and I am mildly concerned that it's not acceptable to you.
However as for me sadly falling into the same apathetically mind set of the rest of the Board, tar and brushes seem to spring to mind. If you add the word don't, somewhere in that phrase you could well be on to a winner and then I think maybe, you'll find where I'm coming from.
I won't comment on the Board prior to Sunday 28th June, but for events after that date, then I'm more than willing to enter into some meaningful conversation with you. No mud slinging or mucky stuff like that mind. But if you are serious and do want to chat then I'm quite happy to try and answer any questions you put to me.
Regarding Hilary, I think that if you have a look at the forum, then you'll see that I acknowledge her on behalf of Wakefield ARL on Saturday 13th June. Sorry Mick, a full day before you did, but I didn't lambast you for not beating me off the mark. And still on that subject, I offered my congratulations to her personally and shook the good lady's hand at the AGM.
So come on Mick, make an attempt to broaden your horizon just a little and please do try and come to terms with the fact, that some people can and will use their own mind.
