Wigan St Judes gain grant
Grassroots Grants provide Wigan St Judes ARLFC with £ 5000 toward transport for the 2009-2010 seasons.
St Judes ARLFC have worked with Wigan & Leigh Rugby League Service
Area Coordinator to secure funding for transport to all away games from
under 7’s to 18’s and both open age teams within the club.
The project is to fund transport for the season’s 2009-2010, due to
increased cost on transport for the Wigan St Judes ARLFC are finding it
difficult to continue fund transport so they got in contact with
Grassroots Grants to assist with the club ensuring they are able to
fulfil away fixture for the next 12 months.
Grassroots Grants have provided support in difficult economical times
to a club with strong community links with a Going Forward attitude
Wigan St Judes ARLFC Secretary Joe Fitszimmons said
“We would like to Thank Grassroots grants for the support and will look forward to working with them in the future”.
John McMullen Wigan & Leigh Rugby League Service Area Coordinator said
"The support the Grassroots Grant is providing much needed support to
community projects and have £130 million programme that aims to invest
in a thriving community sector."
It is funded by Office of the Third Sector (OTS) and delivered by the Community Development Foundation (CDF).
The programme, which will run from 2008-2011 is divided into two parts:
an £80 million small grants fund for community organisations; and a £50
million endowments programme to enable local funders to generate
additional donations on a matched basis and invest them in endowments,
thereby building their capacity to provide long-term funding for
frontline community organisations.
