Hull & District Youth - U8's at Hull KR v Leeds Rhinos
HULL & DISTRICT YOUTH RUGBY LEAGUE
PRESS RELEASE 24TH FEBRUARY 2009
Players from the Hull & District Youth Rugby League Association had a special evening out as guests of Hull Kingston Rovers during their recent Sky Sports televised Super League fixture against Leeds Rhinos. Players from the U8 teams at Hull All Blacks and Hull Isberg took part in a demonstration of Mini-League Rugby prior to the match and then during the half time break were awarded medals by Hull KR's President Colin Hutton to commemorate their special day.
Hull KR Community Development Officer Rob Fuller said "Both Hull All Blacks and Hull Isberg were fantastic. The children who played gave a great account of themselves and their clubs. The game was a great way to start our match day entertainment and to be able to take both teams down onto the pitch at half time to be presented with medals was a fitting way to reward their efforts. Mini mod’s are the future of rugby league in the city of Hull and it is a great way to identify young talent in the city but most importantly, to see youngsters enjoying sport".
That view was echoed by League Secretary Sue Stephenson who commented "Once again I have to thank Hull Kingston Rovers for allowing these young players the chance to demonstrate their skills at such a major event and Rovers have for a number of years now regularly supported our league and its players. The half-time presentation of specially designed medals for the occasion was a new idea and proved a huge success and one I am sure that players, parents and supporters alike will remember for years to come".
